Fly high with "Come Fly Away" in Miami

In Twyla Tharp’s Come Fly Away, which will play the Adrienne Arsht Center March 20 through March 25, a cast of top dancers shimmy, spin and leap their way through complex choreography set to Frank Sinatra classics. The performers exude confidence in their moves, but finding that same strength in their characters takes a different kind of skill. Anthony Burrell, who plays Hank, talked to Broadway.com about finding his inner “ladies man” on stage.

“Hank is fearless, smooth and sexy," Burrell said. "He’s that guy in town that every woman wants to be with and every man wants to be. He’s a ladies man. In my life, I always try to be that guy who inspires and reaches for more. In the show, Hank is someone to look up to. I strive for that every day.”

So what does it feel like to inhabit the suave Hank on stage? “It’s refreshing to play that type of character and feel like a desired man, someone who is in control. Each performance I let go more and more.”

Burrell’s castmates include Matthew Stockwell Dibble, Ashley Blair Fitzgerald, Stephen Hanna, Ramona Kelley, Meredith Miles, Marielys Molina, Ron Todorowski and Christopher Vo.
